The story of “Flying Lotus” — of “An” — and of a journey that turned toward painting.

On the afternoon of June 21, Hanoi was under a light rain. Raindrops fell slowly, like brushstrokes bleeding gently across the surface of the streets. And as if by chance, within the quiet space of B&C Maison d’Art, stories of “Flying Lotus,” of “An,” and of artist Huỳnh Thống Nhất’s journey turning toward painting were shared in a way that felt intimate, complete, and deeply moving.
The talk unfolded softly, without fanfare — much like the spirit within his paintings. The artist did not appear to “present” or “explain” his works, but to share a life journey — one in which painting arrived like a long-awaited appointment already destined to happen. Having spent years studying in France and England, and having lived while absorbing the spirit of Tibetan Buddhism, Huỳnh Thống Nhất came to painting with a free heart, contemplative eyes, and a soul constantly in search of serene beauty. For him, painting is not merely creation; it is a way of returning — returning to himself.
Throughout that rainy afternoon, the conversation unfolded in many layers:– The meaning of painting in personal life,– The hidden emotions entrusted within each artwork,– Technique, materials, and the way the artist converses with watercolor, with paper, with emptiness.
Each response did not aim to provide a conclusion, but rather to open a door — allowing listeners to find their own point of resonance.
And then, the lotus appeared.
In Huỳnh Thống Nhất’s paintings, the lotus does not merely bloom — it flies.
It leans gently amid the bustle of the streets, rests within stillness, and blossoms in the silent moments of life. The lotus is not only beautiful; it possesses soul and presence, carrying a quietude that spreads into the viewer’s inner world.
Looking at a lotus in his painting, one seems to be looking back at oneself — slower, deeper, and softer.
B&C Maison d’Art would like to extend sincere thanks to artist Huỳnh Thống Nhất for bringing not only his paintings, but also a clarity and open-hearted depth — allowing each visitor to pause for a moment amid the hurried rhythm of life outside.
We are equally grateful to the art lovers who came, listened, shared conversations, and immersed themselves in the colors. Because of you, the gathering was not simply an event, but truly an encounter — between people and people, between art and the inner self.
Currently, alongside the works of Huỳnh Thống Nhất, B&C Maison d’Art continues to showcase paintings by contemporary and emerging artists, and warmly welcomes you to visit at any time.
